NOAA's Coastal Ocean Program (COP), part of the National Centers for Coastal Ocean Science (NCCOS), provides scientific information on management of coastal resources. Its website is located at http://www.cop.noaa.gov. NOAA conducted a year-long "Internet town meeting" that asked the public to envision what America's coastal areas should look like in the year 2025. The results of this exercise are available at http://coast2025.nos.noaa.gov. The U.S. Geological Survey has been involved in projects to protect coastal resources in the San Francisco Bay area.
